National Sentinel Hive Program
Whirrakee Woodware is proud to be a part of the National Sentinel Hive Program, supporting the Department of Environment and Primary Industries, Biosecurity Australia and the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council.
The National Sentinel Hive Program was established in 2000 as a surveillance program to stop the introduction and spread of honeybee parasites and exotic bees. The main purpose of the program is to assist in the early detection of these parasites and bees in order to help with a quicker and less costly eradication program. This program operates at 27 ports around Australia that process a significant volume cargo and is located within a reasonable flying proximity for bees.
Whirrakee Woodware is very proud to have been chosen to manufacture the physical hives/traps for this program and have been providing the above industries with their full support.
